Thanks for your post Craig!  I am sorry to hear about your pet loss!!!  Having all of the scares of that whole dog food situation was my concern.  Also there are so many fillers in pet food(as well as ours), that it is hard to know which ones are good.  There was a vegetarian brand that I used a few weeks ago, just to try it out, and my dogs did really well with it.  I believe it was a Pedigree brand, but it was eaten up well!

I would like more information on the brand that you are recieving, and it sounds great that it cuts back on how much you use.  Having dogs with a healthy weight is always a plus.  I want my dog to gain weight but a healthy regulated weight.  Our pets health is number one, and you made some great points about the length of life.  I will continue to search for awesome brands.

Eukanuba is one brand that vets love to reccommend.

Iams is a well known brand as well, a little less expensive but there are still other brands out there that are of higher quality.

Dress your pet up for Halloween.  As long as your pet doesn’t mind of course.

There are a lot of fun and cute outfits, costumes out there for your pets, cats too.

Just be smart if handing out candy this year, and be sure to keep your pitt in a safe place.  Remember to be smart owners and responsible pitt owners as well. 

Especially with so many people coming by for trick or treating, and all the costumes.  Better safe than sorry, with all the drama over our dogs.  It could be a innocent situation, that could be blown out of porportion.  Be safe and be smart.

I am sorry I have not been keeping up with the blog site lately.  I have been really busy.  However,  I did want to take the time to check in since it has been a while.  I have posted some new comments, and asked some new questions.  If you have any questions for me, please feel free to ask them.  If you want to answer someone elses question, by all means go ahead, that is why I set this site up.  

These are to dog daze of summer (what’s left of it), and I hope all you pitbull owners are being responsible, and keeping your pet(s) safe, out of the sun, and well watered!  Remember don’t leave them in the car for long periods of time, and if you have to leave them in a car at all, make sure the windows are cracked, or leave the ac on if you have a keychain lock.  It all depends on where you live, and how long you will be leaving your pet in the car.  We don’t want to cause harm to our four legged friends.

Hits hot outside, so make sure when your pitbull is outside that he/she has plenty of water. Do not leave them outside for long, and allow them plenty of shade time when at all possible. We love our pitbulls, they are good dogs so make sure you take care of them right!!

It is very important for your pitbull to get the proper exercise.

Make sure that he/she can go outside and run or walk around in your yard if you have one.  If not, then allow time so you can take your pitbull on a walk 2-3 times a day.  You have to take your pit out to go potty.  Just allow a little extra time walking with him/her.  That will allow them some extra exercise.

Take your pitbull to a dog park (but leave him/her leashed), but only if you know your dog is not aggressive in any way. [ Although we want good responsible dog owners, we as pitbull owners must take an extra precausion when in public].

If your pitbull has shown any signs of aggression then don’t take them to a doggie park or any other park, until you have gotten them evaluated. 

We must be responsible.  Now having said that… If your pitbull is the average pitbull(which is not mean, or aggressive), then give them the extra time in the park or on the walk with you , for the exercise!!

It will be good for you and good for your pitbull.

If you are blessed with  a fenced in yard, then allow time for your dog to run and play in the yard.  So that they are getting a good amount of exercise, to keep them healthy!!

Always keep your eye on your pitbull!

Pitbulls are great dogs!!

What is it about Thunder Storms and dogs?  At some point we all dis-like them I know.  My dog doesn’t like them much at all. 

I have found that my dog likes to cuddle up on his pillow and chill when there is a Thunder Storm.   Dog bones help also!   It gives him

something to do, and keeps his mind off of the storm.

Dog bones are a great way to deter your dog from chewing your furniture.  This can calm a hiper dog and give him/her something to do instead of chewing your couch.  Having a bone to bite and chew can stop dogs from being bored, and getting into trouble.  Minty bones are good for their teeth and breath.  And it also helps you when your dog gets close to you, you will have a minty fresh smell instead of the normal doggie breath.

There are all types of dog bones.  Rawhides, beef flavored, minty flavored.  Small ones, Big ones.  Then you will find that your dog may be picky in which type he/she will chew.  My dog loves the round medium to larger sized rawhide bones.   Although they don’t last long with him chewing them, he still loves them.   The larger ones seem to be good because the dog can get an hold on it, gain control over it, and go chew crazy.

So for a great toy get your dog a Dog Bone!

I am in search of some good dog foods, that may not be as common as Pedigree.

Something that is actually good for dogs, made with natural, healthy ingredients.  There are some that people and vets swear by, and they are costly brands of food.  There has to be some brands out that may be a little costly but not too high priced. 

Rachel Ray has a dog food brand out, but her brand is just a little costly for the size of bags available.  I have come close to buying her brand several times, but chose another brand instead.  For the same price of her food I could have gotten a larger bag of Pedigree. 

Some suggestions on other good brands of dog food would be nice.
